Meet Stephenie Naugler

CAMDR Provincial Advisor for the province of Ontario

Stephenie Naugler is the Manager of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department at St. Michael’s Hospital which is a very busy trauma center and has been in this role for since 2013.

She has a diploma in Health Care Management through the OHA; a certificate of distinction for the Executive Housekeepers Course through the Association and OHA; is a registered MDR Technician through Centennial College and has maintained her MDRAO standing since 1998.

Throughout her career, she has taken a number of leadership courses both in hospitality and health care including a Nursing Leadership course through McMaster University. Prior to St. Michael’s, she worked as Manager of Environmental Services at Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care and as the Operating Room Team Leader at Sick Kids managing the support services teams and the Medical Device Reprocessing units for varying amounts of time.

It was at Sick Kids where she learned how to apply the “LEAN” principles in the workplace to provide efficiencies both in human resources and supply chain for Perioperative Services. She sat on the MDRAO Board as one of the Directors of Communication for 2016-18 and is an active standing member of IAHCSMM and is currently pursuing her management designation. Stephenie has implemented a solid quality assurance program at St. Mike’s and adheres to the CSA standards such as removing gauze/cotton/toweling from all clinic trays and working with vendors and customers to reduce the weights of all surgical sets.

With 20+ years of healthcare management experience in acute and long term care in both Environmental Services and Perioperative Services (MDRD), Stephenie is a results oriented and collaborative manager. She wants to participate and be a part of present and future critical changes in medical device reprocessing for patient safety and improving standards for all heath care facilities in Canada.
